The good life - Italy

We try the delights of camping life and travel to northern Italy where we walk along the streets of Venice and take a gondola on the canals. Camping Miramare in Venice is then changed for Caravan Park Sexten – a campsite that some rank as the world’s best. In this episode, we also visit an Amarone wine producer.

Canals, large squares and narrow alleys in Venice

We take a water bus from the campsite to the centre of Venice. The tour takes approx. 30 minutes and we then walk along the narrow alleys and bridges, which are packed with tourists. We get a little lost and stay after 6 pm to get the city more to ourselves.

Amarone glass of wine in Valpocella

In the footsteps of Amarone in Valpocella

Swedes seem to love Amarone wines, which are produced here in Valpocella, the area around Lake Garda. The lake is a sight in itself but we spend our time visiting the local wine producers. You can also stay the night here.

Our choice of accommodation in northern Italy

Camping Miramare

Camping Miramare is located just outside Venice and offers pitches of varying sizes close to nature. There is Wi-Fi throughout the area and a refreshing pool when it becomes too hot.

Caravan Park Sexten

Caravan Park Sexten is located 1520 metres above the sea and is considered by some to be the world’s best campsite. Here, everything is that bit extra: bigger pitches, more modern equipment and views that are hard to beat. Treat yourself and your caravan/motorhome to a night or two of luxury here.

Le Palme Camping

Le Palme Camping in Valpocella offers 110 pitches of 50-100 m2, so small vehicles are preferable. There are also about 60 cottages of a good standard. The campsite is terraced and slopes down towards Lake Garda with magnificent views.
