Radio waves and sea fishing in Varberg
We take the caravan to Halland – one of Sweden’s most popular campsite destinations. First a visit to the World Heritage site Grimeton Radio Station, then sea fishing awaits on Kattegat where we catch the day’s dinner. Will it be cod as promised?

The World Heritage site Grimeton
Grimeton outside Varberg is the only pre-electronic radio transmitter in the world. This was what earned it a place on UNESCO’s World Heritage List in 2004. The station was built in 1920 at the same time as the big wave of radio amateurs in Sweden and the world. The interest in information transfer was almost as great then as it is now, even if it is a bit easier today.

Sea fishing in the Kattegat
Fladenbåtarna arranges daily fishing trips for 4 and 8 hours in summer. With a combination of experience and an echo sounder, the chances of catching fish are great. Equipment can be hired on board, and gutting of the catch is included in the price. We catch mackerel, cod, coalfish and much more.

The starting point for our excursions in Halland is Getteröns Camping. If you hire a cottage or pitch here you will be close to the campsite’s own restaurant or self-service shop as well as the centre of Varberg. You can get here quickly and easily by car, cycle or tour boat.
