Timmerflotte på Klarälven

Rafting on the Klarälven River and Värmland on rails

Moving on your own steam is always a little bit more exciting. We glide down the Klarälven River before heading off to Stjärnsfors where we cycle an inspection trolley and visit a unique railway museum in Hagfors.

Timmerflotte på Klarälven

Down the Klarälven River on your self-built timber raft

Build your own timber raft at Klarälvens Camping, only to then slowly glide down along the Klarälven River. Building the raft takes a couple of hours, and there is an instructor on site to guide you. How long you glide is up to you, but there are programmes stretching from one to seven days.

Dressin i Stjärnsfors

Cycle inspection trolleys in Stjärnsfors

An inspection trolley, that is a bicycle on rails, is somewhat of an unusual mode of transport. We set off from Stjärnsfors, which has 6 km of rails surrounded by flowering and wonderful nature. Along the route there are several beautiful rest stops where you can enjoy the picnic you’ve brought along.

Ett lok på Hagfors järnvägsmuseum

Hagfors Railway Museum

Anybody into trains and who haven’t visited the Hagfors Railway Museum should come here. There are steam engines, well-preserved rail buses and elegant dining cars here. Across the yard from the museum are the old engine sheds, which have been converted into an environmental museum. Everything in here remains untouched from the day the sheds closed their doors for good.
