Through Provence in Napoleon’s footsteps
Come to the French Riviera and drive along ’Route Napoléon’. It offers more than just eye candy in the form of strikingly beautiful nature; it also has well-known scented plants and wonderful world-famous wines.
Europe’s Grand Canyon – Gorges du Verdon
Gorges du Verdon, sometimes called Europe’s Grand Canyon, is strangely not very well known to us northerners. There are cliffs that drop 700 m straight into the incredibly beautiful azure blue water. The road around the canyon winds its way through tunnels and along dizzying rock ledges. The river flows into the lake Lac de Sainte-Croix where you can take a refreshing dip.
The lavender producer Le Segnels
There are many uses, to say the least, for lavender. Here in the Nordic countries it is probably best known for putting in linen cupboards and wardrobes to make clothes and fabrics smell nice. But Lavender also works as an insect repellent, as moths hate the smell secreted by the plant.

The well-preserved and beautiful Avignon
Avignon is a city on the eastern bank of the Rhône River and was important already during the Roman Period. The city is well preserved and maybe best known for having been the papal residence for 70 years in the 14th century. The city has many mediaeval buildings: the papal palace, the Roman cathedral and the city wall with its 39 towers are among the most important.

Chemin de Beaucastel wines in Châteauneuf-du-Pape
Châteauneuf-du-Pape is a municipality north of Avignon in south-eastern France. But it is probably better known for its wine district of the same name. Here the Grenache grape reigns, though in a Châteauneuf-du-Pape wine, 18 grapes are permitted – nine black, nine white. Once here, visit ‘Brangelina’s’ favourite wine producer, Famille Perrin, to taste the wine and go on a guided tour.
