Towards Portugal’s Algarve

It is difficult to get further west in Europe, without leaving the mainland, than Portugal. And – strangely enough – the country is not in the top five visited by Swedes. Most of what we look for on holiday can be found here: sun, good food, cool nature and cultural experiences. And the roads are super, perfect for those of us travelling with a caravan or motorhome.

Lissabon

Beyond big squares and avenues in Lisbon

Just as in all European capital cities, you can look behind grand statues and impressive buildings to find the centre, the real heart of the city. Take a walk along the narrow alleys in Alfama, Mouraria or Bairro Alto, step into a genuine restaurant and enjoy Portugal’s soul when it is sung to you, accompanied only by two guitars. That’s what we did.

Benagil Sea Caves Algarve Portugal

Algarve’s beaches and magnificent nature

Algarve is the southernmost region in Portugal and is a well-known holiday destination for many Europeans. Partly due to its latitude, of course, and partly because it is just over two hours from the capital Lisbon. But maybe mostly because of the, to say the least, cool rocks along the beaches. If you come here, don’t miss the Benagil Sea Caves.

Camping As Cancelas is a year-round campsite in an elevated location in Santiago De Compostela. It has pitches and cottages to hire, and if it’s too hot or your feet are tired after a long walk, it also has a pool. Nice location and approx. 20 minutes’ walk to the city and the enormous cathedral.
