Grimeton outside Varberg is the only pre-electronic radio transmitter in the world. This was what earned it a place on UNESCO’s World Heritage List in 2004. The station was built in 1920 at the same time as the big wave of radio amateurs in Sweden and the world. The interest in information transfer was almost as great then as it is now, even if it is a bit easier today.
